The LAT EGSE is being developed by the same team which will be producing the Instrument Operations Center (IOC). This allows the EGSE development to be used to prototype IOC functions and processes while supporting the electronics development team, the principal end user. The IOC has a significant role in the operation of the instrument during integration and test to support operations team training. The IOC will inherit the EGSE support functions in FY04. IOC team familiarity with the EGSE will enhance the ability of the IOC team to support maintenance of EGSE systems in the field.
