Memories of Neil Gehrels

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our colleague Neil Gehrels after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Monday, February 6, 2017.

This page is a place to collect memories and thoughts of Neil from the large community of his friends and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, people can send gifts in Neil's memory to the Anacostia Watershed Society.

Neil’s family will be holding a memorial service for him at 3:30 pm on Friday, March 10, in the Memorial Chapel at the University of Maryland at College Park, here the map for the service.
The family will be pleased to see those of you who are able to attend in person, and will have all of his friends and colleagues in their thoughts on the day.
